Over the holidays I did a show up in Portland, OR. I stumbled on this very nice girl selling the most beautiful 100 year old Boro fabric that along with her business partner source from Japan. After oohing and ahhing over their special fabrics I knew it was destiny that we were to work together.

A few new ideas.

1-Waxed Canvas pieced quilt

2-Layered woolen triangles

3-Quilting with Coral stitching.

4-Transfered a rabbit drawing onto linen and added chain stitch and whip stitch with woolen yarn

Hexagon Quilt

In an effort to push myself out of my sewing comfort zone I have taught myself a new technique called English piecework. It is a technique where you hand baste quilt fabric to paper pieces and then slowly whip stitch them together. After they are connected you can tear the paper away to reveal a perfectly sewn hexagon with no raw edges. I have already found myself stitching incessantly over and over again in my dreams. This could become an obsession.

This project is the beginning of my journey toward expanding my work to include one of a kind or short run interior decor pieces. Hopefully lots of drawing too. I need more color in my life! Hopefully this idea will guide this blog into a sort of interactive sketchbook of my stitched adventures.
